Courts give verdicts within constitutional framework: CJ

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that the courts make all decisions within the framework of constitution and could not at all digress from it.
When the decisions were not made in accordance with the constitution, then neither the democracy nor the parliament survived.
Talking to a delegation of Karachi Bar Association (KBA) led by its president Mahmoodul Hassan, CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that the lawyers were most affected in the May 12 and April 9 incidents. He said that the KBA played a major role in suo moto action taken on law and order of the city, when the Bars became proactive, then the courts also give good decisions.
CJP said that Balochistan issue was under hearing in the court, not much could be said about it. The petition relating to Balochistan issue came from the Bar, which was surprising, but a good move.
